Any chance that carbs differs only at fuel jet? Or some others diameters are different?

I'm not sure what to do here.
My existing 6hp engine performs pretty well on the boat, and it will do about 15mph with two adults on board.
It is a bit noisy when planing, but I guess any outboard motor will be noisy when you are sat about 20 inches away from it....
I guess I have to decide if the extra few MPH will be worth the 1,000 or so it will cost me plus my existing engine.
Probably not is my thinking at the moment. Better to wait a bit and then buy a bigger boat for open water use, keeping the SIB for the canal and Norfolk Broads.

Sorry for any confusion. The post above should have been in another thread, the one about fitting a Tohatsu 9.8 to my SIB.
Can't delete it now...

Hi, in the end, did you do the upgrade of your 8hp engine ?
I have same engine and would like to upgrade it as well.
Thanks

2016 Mariner 8hp 4 Stroke upgrade to 9.9

Yes i can confirm that the only way to upgrade to engine to 9.9 is with a carb swap. You can notice the difference between the two carbs. The 9.9 has a bigger carb throat.

I upgraded my engine beginning of this year and what a difference it has made.
