Mariner 75hp alarm

Hi Folks, Just new to the site and wondered if anyone could help me. I have a 2002 Mariner 75hp 4stroke which runs as sweet as a nut, doesn't burn oil and pumps loads of cooling water. Recently I have started to get a warning alarm go off on the first start up of the day for 30-40 seconds. After that the engine can be stopped and started all day long with no alarm. The alarm does not sound at any other time. I have checked oil level and grade of oil and all seems to be fine. I was wondering about a sticking or faulty oil pressure sensor but don't know enough about them to start interfering at this stage. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks John

Welcome,

That engine is not one I have any practical experience of - but is the alarm continuous during that time: i.e.

beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

or

beeeeep beeeeep beeeep beeeeeep beeeeep

?

that usually gives some indication on the origin.

the alarm will only sound for an oil or o/heat problem, or a wiring fault, check the thermostate ther is a merc/mar dealer in Largs ask them to put the diagnostic computer or the diagnostic light (if its a yamy p/head) it could be the water grommet between the adapter plate and leg

you can either phone a merc/mar dealer and ask them , or load brunswickmarineemea.com into your computer go onto the download centre find the correct h/book find what you want then delete it from your computer or print it , but untill you find out wether it is oil or o/heat you could be weeing against the wind
