Mine has a Jubilee clip round the neck of the oil reservoir restricting the oil when tilted maybe a worthy mod to help. Helps seal the twist lid mush better.

ive had the clear plastic oil pipes split before, just replaced with pipe from b+q. mine also leaks from the filler when tilted if i over fill the tank.

Mine is a 1996 Mariner 75 with the rectangular type oil tank filler , only leaks when the boat is being towed and the outboard is in the fully up position , I presume it is the seal inside the oil tank lid at fault or the lid has gone out of shape ,I might get a new seal as I tend to loose 1/2 litre of oil on the last 300 mile road to scotland.
it dumped this into the bilge

Alan.

Sounds like that might be the problem, I'll order one in the morning.

Been there - it was the rectangular seal at the top of the oil tank that leaked on mine when the outboard was tilted.

Just ordered a new seal, hopefully that will sort it out!

dont want to have to clean the boat out again - took an hour to scrub the entire deck and I am sure it will need done again!

the oil leak problem could be the little valve in the breather its under the little black breather cap, DO NOT THROW THE VALVE AWAY you will have an oil leak when tilted, or the seal in the oil tank cap or a split in the seam of the oil tank.
