Loss of RPM and hence top speed after 100 hour service

I have just had my 100 hour service done on my Suzuki DF140 and I feel I have a slight drop in Max RPM.

Is this normal after a service until everything loosens back up again ???

If not what could have caused it ???

We are only talking a very small drop in RPM but it is still noticable and has shaved about 3 knots of my top speed.

Thought Id ask here before I approach the guys who did the service.

I wouldn't be surprised with a gradual drop before a service, but it should be back to normal, or better, afterwards.

Go back to the guys who did it, but have a check first that they have used a genuine fuel filter, and the correct plugs etc. A pattern filter could be more restrictive, and most Suzi's are particular about their NGK plugs.
Ask if they removed any linkages to do the service that may not have gone back exactly the same.

Ask them to explain why.

had my suzuki serviced and it wouldn't start when the tide was against the prop, i was told by my dealer that the engine needs to be tuned to the boat i.e they dont know the boat weight hence where to set the rev's, so it may be set in a stardard position.
put my boat in the water took it to my suzuki dealer, he twidled about, couple of test runs, job done..
or has he serviced prop, ie filed down ect?
hope this helps

It should be better Roy - mine definately was.... before the service, the engine was running on 3 cylinders most of the time (this is a long story), but before that, when all 4 were working, for about 2 months, all I could do was 38knots at WOT, which is about 3 or 4 under what the thing normally does. Since the service, although there are other things broken now, she's back on form for top end revs and speed.

Just out of curiousity, can I ask how much cash roughly you parted with for the 100hr service?

Thanks,

-Alex
