Looking for 200hp Fuel Consumption figures

Hi there,
I'm looking at getting a 7.5mtr RIB built with a 200hp Engine on the back. With the price of fuel going out of control I'm interested to see what kind of consumption an engine of this size will give me, I'm looking at both 2 stroke and 4 stroke. Anyone out there with an engine like this can you please advise me on fuel consumption

200hp two stroke will do circa 20gph at wot.

I have a 225hp ETec on my 6.8m Ribcraft. It uses about 1.5 litres per nautical mile. Consider buying a jet ski: mine cost half of what I paid for my outboard and only uses 0.7 litres a mile.

Are you sure you really want to know?

Our Rib has a 200hp Optimax hanging somewhere of its back end but i prefer not to think about what it burns in fuel.....I sleep so much better that way!

Yep - been there with a 200 optimax. At 35 knts if i was really careful it was burning 35lph , I could get under that ( down to about 30) if I slowed down - but then why have a 200 to go slow.

Upwards of 40knts I stopped looking...tended to focus on the water ahead..

Worst I ever glimpsed was about 90LPH ....then I slowed down.

my opti 200 runs 77lph at WOT which is about 5300rpm give or take. cruises at 30mph at 30lph near enough

We use different engines on different boats. We always calculate 1ltr per engine and nautical mile. However we noticed that boats with newer engines (150HP Verado) consume significantly less petrol than smaller boats with older engines (conventional 4-stroke). I believe it's difficult to give a more exact number as fuel consumption highly depends on your type of boat, load, weather conditions and the driver.

Mine has been incredibly economical for months!

Anyway last time I used it it was using about 18 gph at WOT.

I knew it was going to be alot but didn't think it would be that much, I'm hoping to use it for tours etc... i don't have a hope of getting a diesel as they are so expensive for what i'm looking for, i'm looking at a 7.25mtr with a 200hp. looks like i will be putting my fares up!

As Roofer say's as a rule of thumb 2 strokes WOT 50 hp 5 gph, 100 hp 10 gph, 150 hp 15 gph, 200 hp 20 gph, . . . . . . . . . . .

All depends on your speed if your pottering about any 200 would be fine but if your putting foot down then it will be thirsty.

Last year I did just over 200 engine hours and my fuel cost was about £4,500.00 plus about 10 5litre 2 stroke oil at about £33.00 each 5litre. That's with a yamaha 200hp 2stroke.

Fuel was at cost from mdl marinas.

From what I have seen most engines of modern design that are paired to an appropriate sized boat run at 1-1.5L per mile at cruising speed on the plane with 2-4 adults. That range is for boats from 5.4m to 7m.

Smaller and larger boats take the ranges further, especially of you start loading the boat with "weight".

Ribcraft 9.0m with Volvo d6 310hp does 30 litres an hour at 30 knts in any sea you find comfortable !!!!!
It's time all you outboard guys changed to burning oil instead of petrol !!
Diesel is a lot cheaper to buy also

7.3m, Cummins 6BT210 11gph @2600 for 27knt (friends are making 30 knt but they don't have old bottom paint like I do). Long range cruise, for me, is 5.9 gph @2000rpm for 20knt.
