Three contacts on the switch or three contacts on the wiring loom?

If it's the switrch it might be the old one was a "universal" switch - i.e one set of "held open" contacts and one set of "held closed" , use one for Outboard "short the ignition to stop" and the other possibly a relay for a diesel shut-down throttle solenoid.

If it's the wiring, I'll dig out my Clymer tonight.

D'oh. That'll be 1997 like is says in the OP.........

I have the nagging feeling that might be at the younger limit of my Clymer, but will check tonight.

Jambo,

My Clymer tops out at 1993, so this may be irrelevant......

There are 3 wires, but 2 connections shown on the "Command 2000" control. Basically one of the pins on the deadman switch appears to be used as a way of spreading the earth around inside the control box. One wire / pin to the ignition on the engine, one pin to a combination of the -ve on the key switch & the other wandering off to the accessories.

If you have 3 pins on the switch connector, I'm afraid I can't be of much more help. No control wiring shows 3 pins on the switch in that edition.

Has it got the Commander 2000 control or is it a dash mounted kill with top mount throttle?
