Johnson 50hp Four Stroke

Hi all,

I looking at buying a Johnson 50hp four stroke engine. Its 2005 and done about 30-40 hours. The price is £2250 is that a good price?

Also has anyone had any experience with these engines?

Thanks

nice engines and are basically now the suzuki engines . I work on them all the time and to be honest nothing major has gone wrong on them . if the engine has been serviced and a diagnostic run check on the computer has been done then there is NO reason NOT to buy the engine . Ask for a diagnostic computer check and ask for the R.P.M profile screen to be printed out and you will beable to tell whether that unit has been thrashed or NOT by looking at the percentage next to the r.p.m PROFILE . if its ONLY done the hours you say it has and looks clean enough and NO oil all ove rthe place then that is a GOOD price . Make sure the engine has a full serial number as there are alot out there that are stolen units and the boys are selling them off cheap . hope this helps any other info let me know . Baz

You may find it's rather heavy on the back of a 4m. It's worth checking the weight against what's on it at the moment.

Ok firstly Bud what BOAT have you got ? Is this the boat that the engine will go onto ? I fit 50 fourstrokes to 4.5 m ribs upwards and they are fine . Let me know what the boat is and the manufacture and will be able to help you out from there , props , engine height , etc etc to get top performance
