I guess I meant that if you look at it on paper not many people use their diesel RIB enough to jsutify the extra capital and maintinace costs.

Each to there own I suppose - I wouldn't want a dirty smelly diesel engine ruining my day out on my boat.

I can understand the attraction of a diesel for commercial operators but every RIB Ive ever seen with a diesel half the boat is taken up by this giant ugly box.

I think you are missing a very important point in your analysis- which was quite superb in many facets-- MAINTENANCE. A diesel is going to cost you a
lot more money than gas engined. If you go for the latest 2ts HPDI's maintenance is miniscule cf to a diesel. Nobody - as yet has produced a powerful (> 200 hp) diesel OB and I am a bit surprised seeing the relative good perforamce of 2.5 liter TDI's - commom rail/pump injectors ect ect. as
regards automotive applications. Perhaps Codders could weigh in with some appropriate comments ??
