I love my 2 stroke

The more I use it the more I come to appreciate my Suzuki 225 - lovely noise at idle and a fantastic howl wide open.

It doesn't seem THAT bad on fuel - seem to get about 3 or 4mpg which isn't fantastic but doesn't seem much worse than people's 4 strokes. Also there is no smoke and it is very good on oil.

The throttle response is fantastic - much better than a 4stroke and the acceleration is amazing - prob helped by a 19" 4 blade prop. Time to plane is a bit hard to work out - seems almost instant to me!!!

the only 4 choke that ever did any thing on the water is an SC900 572ci v8 merc, the two stroke, twice the power half the weight was true then is still.

I love my wife..........

.........The more I live with her the more I come to appreciate her. Although she witters quite a lot, it's done in a lovely way and wioth a nice tone, however, when wide open, she has one hell of a howl.

She's not that bad to maintain - I seem to get my monies worth in terms of washing and ironing, housekeeping and even some gardening, so she doesn't seem to be much worse than other peoples. She doesn't smoke and uses little oil - Clarins I think.

She responds quite well to most situations, fantastic in fact, much better than other wives - prob helped by my 5'11" build and size 9 boot up her backside form time to time, which gets an instant reaction.

Have to agree, love the 2 strokes myself as well, the noise and growl is really quite nice.
Is great news that you are getting such good mpg as that codship of yours is huge and the engine in comparison is quite small.

I have been really chuffed with the economy from my opti, much better than i was thinking i might get and vgood compared to many boats.

when you posted the first pics of your boat and engine you had one with the engine running and there was quite a lot of smoke round it........has that all settled down now it is run in?

i have only noticed any smoke from mine 2 or 3 times and has been momentary, and also i have not noticed any opti smell as folks say they love the opti smell, ....not noticed it myself!

Mine's noisey and quite thirsty and burns a fair bit of bloody expensive DFI oil. Let's not get all soppy just coz that's what we own. I like the way that it dumps the power down and it doesn't scream like a demented bee (Suz 4 strke) at full chat. Chris your's must be gold plated and give out BJ's the way you go on about it.

actually it does, i should have mentioned it mines noiseyish too but i like the noise it makes, engine has a kind of character and does not seem to kick you in the teeth with fuel consumption which is a big bonus.

i think this thread is in appreaciation of 2 strokes so the comments are not out of place in my mind.

if there was a thread on Honda 90s or Yam 15s i would have some good words to say about them as well, but for very different reasons...

Two strokes do it for me every time.

Careful now, we're talking engines remember!

I think you'll find that's an optional extra on the V6 lump but standard on the V69 range!

Only reason for the smoke was that I asked for extra oil to be added into the mix for running in - now it's using just the internal oil tank there is no smoke and it doesn't use much oil either.

If I did that to my Yams -it would ruin them. What vintage is your suz. codders?? Boar war or pre -American civil war??.. .And by the way to come back to an "old" subject.... Note that it is in fact RR who have caused the stress on the Airbus 380.

What about that trip to belgium ??. Meet you half way?? -in the middle of the channel??.
