I have seen the question in a few threads but the www.marinepower.com website doesn't appear to be working.

Can anyone tell me how old my engine is:

50 HP 2-stroke Mariner
Serial#: OP294492

Is there somewhere else I can go to find out?

Your engine was registered as new on 20.5.04 by Bill Higham and sold to some one called Mr Metcalfe.

The date of sale is on the marine power web site that you had the link for but does not always work, So keep trying and is there for any one to see, The other details are only available for dealers to see.
