How can I do this?

Does anyone know how I can determine the year of an 8hp 2 stroke Yamaha outboard engine from the serial number, which is: 677s 043560. I believe it to be a European model.
I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Hello

It would appear to be a short shaft Japan built (for the EU market) engine from 1981. Yamaha also built the same model for Mariner so parts are quite common.

Hope that helps

Peter

Peter,
Thank you for your help. Once again you've come up with the goods. Much appreciated.

(Where on earth did you find this information?)

Ray.
