Honda 2hp problem

Hi, I know that this is my first post and I'm being a bit cheeky coming straight in with a problem but here goes.

I have a 9 year old Honda 2hp 4 stroke which after extricating it from it's winter storage, starts fine, ticks over fine, runs up to about half throttle fine, then when full throttle is applied it loses power and splutters (still going).

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Chris

Put fresh fuel in, change the plug and clean the carb out. I'll be extremely surprised if it's not one of those 3.

Thanks for the info, I was afraid it might be that. I've changed the fuel and plug. Now to find the bit in the massive Honda manual on how to do it!!

Cheers

Its not a diy job, will take a good motorbike, lawnmower mechanic 15 mins, or your average joe blogs allot of stress and time

First time I've looked at a carb (car, bike or boat) and the cleaning of the jet and solving the problem on this engine took 10 mins with a bit of fusewire. Runs perfectly now.

So thanks for the advice and I can now tick off another job done. I do appreciate the complexity of a multi-carb engine and the balancing issues from owning a Yam motorbike but as with most jobs they can be done by non professionals (and often better) providing you have a good manual (the Seloc one I have is pants!), correct tools and a bit of time.

Thanks again.
