Can't argue with the guy.

Obviously Optis were the best engines in the World, when I had one.

Spot on I like e-tecs I have owned and rigged two (115 & 150) and really rate them hence why I am sharing my thoughts. You clearly rate them too as you tried to buy mine several times when I was looking to upgrade.

As for Honda, the jury is still out. I've only put a few hours on it and initially thought it was shit then found that the servicing dealer was incomepetent. Now that I have sorted out the issues they left after the service it's much better and seems to be very frugal on the juice which is a bonus in the current climate. Fingers crossed it turns out to be as enjoyable as the e-tec was !

Got a 60 Etec and did 76 nm on the Round Anglesey cruise in the chop, I took 99ltrs of fuel with me and came back with 67ltrs I keep checking the fuel to see if I have made a mistake but defo got 67 ltrs left, so 32 ltrs of fuel used

Let's get something straight here.

I liked your 6.5 Vipermax and would have been interested in buying it on the TWO occasions you advertised it for sale, but not because of the motor. If I'd bought it, then in all likelihood, the 150 e-tec would have been shipped on. That's not because I have anything against the e-tec, in fact, I nearly bought one last week, but found out it was too heavy for the boat, but that's another story......

What were the results of this incompetence?

Fuel pissing out of the high pressure fuel filter as they forgot to tighten up the cover and they forgot to fit a new o-ring. So on the Flamouth trip last month we averaged 1.8 litres per mile however realise now that half the fuel we used on that trip ended up in the sea !

The IAB butterfly valves in the airbox were jammed closed and had not been checked this limits airflow into the engine after 4000 RPM so impacted hole shot and top end performance.

However all sorted now. I should have known better than to trust a marine service agent to do a decent job. Tossers !

And when I was looking to upgrade my 150 to a 200 ? You asked if I would sell you the 150 !

Come on DHD resistance is futile :-)
