Is he deliberately trying to catch someone out? Or is he an idiot?

This is just a way of advertising the engine for parts, it's quite common, it lets all interested party's know that the seller is breaking it. It's not a scam!

Yep. I think Rickuk3 might be interested in the controls.

In his defense, item description was valid as "yamaha spares". Pic is a bit misleading tho but I suppose it's to get round having to take lots of photo's of all the parts. He's got good feedback - I'd buy from him (althouigh I don't know if there is much market for 2nd hand plugs :-) )

It's not a scam, happens quite often

He is trying to advertise that he has spares. To protect himself, incase anyone tries to bid, he has clearly stated that all they will get is a spark plug

Yes but what he is trying to do is get you to buy the bits outside ebay (as then he doesn't have to pay them fees). So the little protection a potential buyer gets from ebay/paypal is then lost completely.

Well...not really. There's nothing to say you can't get him to set up a buy-it now listing for the part you want.

That's gonna cost the seller:

1) Selling fee's
2) Paypal fee's

Cash in hand is much better

It is if you're going to collect it...

If you're selling and you've got any sense you add the selling and paypal fees to the price you want-if you wanted £5 the buy it now would be for £7 etc etc...
