'hard water'

Hi all

Another daft post from BB?!

Can an engine suffer from limescale build up in it's cooling system due to 'hard' water, when flushing on muffs?

Not for the 5 mins you flush it for.

HT

I see what you mean, but those 5 mins build up over the course of the engines life? or does running in salt water shift any limescale?

Don't worry about it. Most engines I've opened up have traces of it in the water jacket but it's only traces. It'd hae to boil the cooling water regularly to cause a problem...

sea water is fairly hard anyway - so you aren't going to make life worse by running in fresh..
