What's a zerk? Is it particular to the west side of the atlantic?

Marine grease or corrosion block grease on everything does me .

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/zerk

Herr Zerk must have been the guy who invented the grease nipple I guess

I use Castrol SX2 because we have some at work in tubes that fit the grease gun, it is designed for marine use on exposed cables and gears on deck etc so I figure it should be good for the blunt end of a RIB. I got some of the funny blue stringy Johnson waterproof grease but it comes in silly tubes and is a pain to use so I don't.

Nipple is a much nicer word - although in German it's a breast wart - ugly language only good for shouting at people!!!

O-great I ask about greasing zerks and start an international WAR. Well at least I think I don’t have a clue at what they are saying. Codprawn I would have to agree grease nipple does sound a lot more appealing 
On another note thanks for the info.
