Fuel Mixture

I have a 1988 Mariner 50 HP 2 Stroke. It has no manual and I can't find a plate with information on it. The engine is distinct in that it is ex Royal Navy and it has what appears to be an add on Power Trim and Tilt.

The previous owner said it used a mixture of 25 to 1.

I find this quite a high ratio. Has anybody else got the same engine and if so what is the oil mixture ratio.

Many Thanks in advance.

Correct should go at 2% maximum. That is two parts of oil in 98 parts of gas.
Why do people still use that complicated way of saying things like 50:1 ect.
It confuses everybody Gripe finished.

Does it? 5lts fuel + 100ml oil. Or, 50 lts fuel + 1lt oil etc. Really tricky, that.

Fifty parts Fuel to one part Oil - doesn't get much more straight forward than that.

Except that 50 to 1 and 2% are not quite the same.

I'm pleased you said that....I already made him grumpy and didn't like to mention it.

Not that you would ever realistically measure to that accuracy!
