Fuel filters

I am just at the point of buying in the fuel system. I used CAV type filters before but they used to corrode quite badly.
I have found a water seperating filter in SS online but no bowl on the bottom to easily check for contamination. Is there such a beast?

How well do these type filter? The paper versions filter to 10 microns so I always assumed these ones, being mesh, will be much larger?

That's what I just showed you; a water separating filter with a stainless mesh.

However, I use two of them in series. The first separates water and the second is a paper 10µm filter.

That is the set up I have, However, my paper 10micron is also described as a filter/separator. I may remove the separator with with drainable bowl as I have experinced a problem with the drain not shutting off completely and although there was no noticeable fuel leak it did suck air and prevented the system from priming. It is also in a position where it is difficult to see and get to. I carry two spare spin on 10 micron cartridges ( and a strap wrench) as they are so cheap.
