The chap I used (MarineTec) is a local chap in Abersoch. He came highly recommended by "IAN" and although cheap, I believe he has a good reputation. Time will tell.

He is mobile and operates from Land Rovers so very few overheads. He is quick and efficient and I had great service when needed with the old Merc 2 stroke. Even after one of the numerous breakdowns this engine suffered, he answered his mobile and sorted us out while we were on the water. For service and speed he is second to none in thr Pwllheli area.
He doesn't do Suzuki 4/ yet. But should have all the computer stuff when my warranty expires

Ist service on the 250hp quoted at 8 hours labour + oil. Do your own calc's with the labour charge you normally pay
This is after 20 hours, the next is in another 80 hours then it's every 100. This means this engine will be serviced approx every 6 weeks

Ouch, that has to be painful - just the annual service for me will be hefty, I couldn't even imagine having that every 6 weeks.....
Apparently, it's all so the warranty stays in place, by using genuine parts

I have been thinking carefully about the cost of a 4-stroke servicing. It seems to me that the time intervals between servicing is very low. Therefore, the cost of maintenance is quite high.
However, my engineers says that I'm being paranoid about it and I should have got 4-strokes instead of 2-strokes engines.
My engineer obviously has an ulterior motive to say this as (in a case of a 4-stroke and 2-stroke scenario) he will be servicing the engine and possibly he will be making more money out of servicing the 4-strokes rather than the 2-strokes.
The question is does any one know what are the service time intervals between 4-strokes and 2-strokes in general, as I understand different car engines -4strokes are car engines- have different time intervals between servicing and also what are the approximate costs involved?

If the engine is used for leisure, the odds are it will require an annual service. However Manos, if they are to be used commercially then the hours will rack up quicker. The fees charged should take this into account whether 2/ or 4/.

Thanks Ian. This is like saying a 4stroke (for commercial use or even for frequent private use) would need more service intervals than a 2stroke
