£95.00 for service + £65.00 for parts + VAT

So that's £188.00 total then.

And the winner is.....

And the winner is...I received my bill on Saturday morning detailing new oil, filters, plugs, impeller, carb balancing and labour. The total was £88.50 (I gave him £90). Therefore, the winner is...Alex Brown with a well educated guess of £110.00 all in. Well done Alex. To claim you prize telephone 0898 5551234 (calls charged at £15.00 a minute). Only joking, I've just sent you a PM.

That's very reasonable who is it

By the way Alex you lucky boy I can reveal that the 1st prize is a night out with David Manning, the second prize is two nights out with DM! One has to take pity on the poor sod that came 15th.

Oh yeah you also get a video of Wolverhampton Wanderes in the showers

15th place Prize was won by Dave Mannings wife, she's stuck with him for good

The chap I used (MarineTec) is a local chap in Abersoch. He came highly recommended by "IAN" and although cheap, I believe he has a good reputation. Time will tell.

Service seem extremely reasonable, the two service centres here charge £90/100 just for the service + parts + VAT so I guess you'd be looking at about £160/180.

I really thought my guess was underestimated.....

That really is a very good price for an outboard engine service - I wonder if he does Suzuki 4-strokes too?

The estimate bill for servicing both my aux (first service) and main engine (100hr service) came in at a substantial sum more than MeMe's price, but I will let know after the service on the 14th of April

edit: just out of interest, what is the sort of going rate for servicing outboard engines of the stupidly sophisticated computerised technology these days?

MeMe very good price, for a full service in Greece (gear oil change, impeller, spak plugs, fuel water separator, carb cleaning the works) for my 200VMax is Euro 200!! Which I think is a lot of money but have to do it to keep the warranty going on the engine (unfortunately)

Sorry MeMe, this is completely off the point of the thread, but...

Congratulations MANOS!!!! Over 2000 posts!
Superb achievement. If only 1/4 of those have been of any use, thats still 500 people that you have kindly helped. (A 1/4 may be optimisitc, but you get my drift!)

Now the race is on for 2nd place to 2000 posts: Could it be Richard B at 1600? Or Keith (Many Posts) Hart at 1522? Or maybe JK will be so busy organising his advertising on the forum he could shoot up from 1242.

Only time will tell!

(Well done Manos! )
