What about when you have to stand due to Pollock crunching slams?
It's possible, but you can get easily tired if your legs are weak. I always stand on te back of my foot in those cases and move the throttle only with the top end of my foot.

I've never moved the throttle on accident with waves if I'm standing.

I expect it's something you get used to doing. Now if you could build in cruise control you would have the best of both worlds

Sorry to correct you, but the Smartcraft system is just for instruments, it's the Verado range that are "Fly by wire", and we have fitted a combination foot / hand throttle to that as well - all fly by wire!

We use the "Incontrol" brand of foot throttles that are very well made, and have the option of combining hand and foot throttle together, we used the Mercury part on the Verado version but hid the electronic parts.

I would only use a foot throttle sitting down - it looks like the photo of the jockey set up is with a low jockey and the foot throttle way out in front which would make it much easier to use that a more normal vertical arrangement.
