Fitting Yamaha Tacho to Suzuki DT55!

Bought a cheap tacho the same as this one but my jumper bar is to the left.

70 ETLG Tach Problem

was hoping the markings on the rear would be the same as the teleflex one I fitted to may last boat! All a bit confusing, there seems to be a jumper bar - pole selection possibly?

Anyone familiar with these?

I have three wires to connect from the engine

black - 0v
gray - 12v ign
yellow - tacho signal

Any ideas on which terminal they should go? I have tried a few combos with no success!

I had the opposite- Yam engine & Suzi Tacho. Can't remember the wire colours off the top of my head, but there was a mix of wire colours - I think Grey is Tach on the Yam. Does the Yam tach not have any markings on the back of the case?

If you are getting nothing, probably worth checking out you are getting 12V DC across the Gnd / Ign wire & then switch your meter to "AC" and see if you get anything across the Gnd / signal wires, likely be in the region of 4-5V (indicated) at idle.

Quick sanity check, it's definetly not a digital tacho?

Engine wires are fine (12v lights bulb ok and flashes bulb when connected to tacho signal) just no idea what terminals to hook them up to.

One is marked g so must be 0 v but no clue on the others!

I'm not sure about that! I have a vague recollection from investigating options for mine that some Yam gauges mark the "signal" connection G.

From this:

Yamaha 85hp tach - need help for wiring

It looks like you might want:

LEFT PIN UNCONNECTED
NEXT TWO PINS JOIN AND CONNECT TO 12V (I think your engine has a 6 pole alternative but Rainmain (aka DHD) will probably be able to confirm)
CONNECT PIN ON RIGHT TO SIGNAL
CONNECT BODY OF DEVICE TO GROUND.

Nice one that's great the exact tacho. Connecting signal to g is the only thing not yet tried!
