When I rang round for insurance it didn't seem to matter what qualifications you had it didn't affect the premium.
Regards the engine I suspect most companies will take your money then not pay out if the size of the engine had something to do with the claim.

Why are you concerned with a few little transom holes when you're about to undertake a project like this? They're the least of your problems.

Not sure about the holes from 75 to a 115, however the transom holes are the same when going from 115's to 150's. Give a decent dealer a call, they'll be able to tell you.

Very good point indeed wilk lol!!!

Will be honest with you guys - I know its an extremely difficult/almost impossible project but everythings possible with the right research and resources () so thanks for your word of warnings !

I will also be honest and say that I hadnt considered insurance in my plan so will look into that....Can anyone think of any more issues (besides the already stated) that I may come across - issues ive come up with are:-

1. Obviously mouting it - and im working on it !
2. Fuel - Ill need alot more
3. Stability - if its too unstable ill downgrade or vice versa - hence the questions regarding foot prints
4. now insurance

Other thoughts that id like some input on....

Rigging ? Batterys ? External Oil ? Throttle (i can only realistically fit a side mounted throttle) ? Any other thoughts on transom work?

Before you reply - please bear in mind that I know 300hp will need alot of transom work, also I may not fit a 300hp (more realistically a 115/150) but would like to be able to fit 300hp if possible!

Cheers

Maybe you should think about another boat, 300hp on a 5.2 rib - what for? If its speed your looking for over powering it won't help, you'll just make it difficult and possible dangerous to try to control. The hull will have a max speed before it starts to chine walk and no amount of extra power is going to help. A single 130 or 150 will probably give you the speed your looking for.

Absolutley agree with you and will probably realistically will end up with that but would like to have a transom strong enough for a 300hp - just incase lol!

Way I see it is if im doin some major stuff to the transom, may aswell go the whole hog! at least then ill know the transoms good for 150 if is designed for a 300!

Why don't you sell your Narwhal/Mariner 75 as a package and invest the cash in something capable of handling the power you want?

good point but the boat is worth more to me than it is to some1 else !

Its not the prettyest boat, best layout boat etc but is PERFECT for me !!! Tows perfectly behind my car, fits in my tight drive, can launch it single handidly, can use it single handidly, can fit all my mates on board, perfect ride, nippy enough for what I do etc etc etc....Its priceless to me and prob only 3k to someone else !

Couldnt get anywere near the same boat for that price, and would struggle to get close once ive added the cost of the new engine !
