The optimax was three years old the boat was brand new so i just felt it deserved a new engine natural progression and evolution I suppose

I have one minor problem: when idling for a long time (5 - 10 min) the engine dies. I can easily restart it but from than on, the engine shuts always down within the minute. This only happens when the engine is warm (not with a cold start). My dealer has analyzed the logs together with an evinrude specialist but they found nothing.

Solution: don't idle for too long when the engine is warm. As soon as it's in gear, it doesn't happen any more. Or if I idle, after 5 minutes I put the engine in neutral, open a little bit the throttle and go back to idle.

Are there other Etec users with that problem?

E-tec

I have an E-tec 250 on a vipermax 7m.Had it on the water since Easter and am really happy with it.The only problem I have encountered is that the "smart gauge" is`nt so smart! It will not accept fuel info,I`ve spoken with the dealer and apparantly this is a common problem and will be sorted by Bombardier later in the year.Apart from that it puts a smile on my face everytime I use it.

On mine i had to change the smart gauge 2 times and on an other Vipermax 7.5 they have problems with the fuel info as well.

If it breaks again, they well put a Yamaha gauge

we have the 200 etec for 2 months now and have run up over 60 hours with no problems whatsoever apart from having to stick all that fuel in her. No proble on idle and fuel flow meter.

I understand that if the fuel flow transducer is not installed correctly then problems can arise.

I prefer the fuel flow on the Navman 6600 anyway.
