Evinrude do not have spare part for 2004 engines!!!!

I have a 2004 250hp (4 months old) Evinrude, the gearboks has broke since it is a counterrotating and therefore weaker. I get a new lower unit on the warrenty, but Evinrude have to make the lower unit first! They will do so in the end of month. Then shipping and handelingI have already been waiting for some time without knoving what and when. Then I had to call directly to Evinrude in Canada to get any information. Seems like I am loosing most of the remaining summer because I chose Evinrude.
Is it legal to do this, not having spare parts available for what you make?

Send me a pm, I have an email of a guy who is an evinrude techie, he has been extremely helpful in the past
have you been in touch with Jets Marvient in the UK. I have seen this before that when they have a batch of orders in they run off the parts

ALSO PUT A POST UP ON www.boatsetup.com those US guys are well up on Evinrude

250 Gear box

A couple of solutions for you.

1. The 200/225/250 gearbox is the same as the 150/175 except for drive shaft (2cm shorter) and ditto selector. We converted a 175 box to a 200ho gear box last week in about 2 hours. Provided your shaft is OK then it should be no probs if you can get hold of a 175 box. note gear ratios etc are all the same ie. identical box.

2. We have a brand new 250 counter in the workshop so if you get really stuck we could lend you box and you replace it with a new one when it comes in.

We find Evinrude exceptionaly helpful and you should push your dealer to rob a box from an engine. Also if you are highly dependant on the boat for a living then buy a spare, no matter what make you have to start with then problems can always occur and a few days lost trading is covered by a spare !

Cheers

john

Wow!
Thank you very much for the offering!
I just bought a right hand counterrotating from U.S. so that I can have a gearboks to use while waiting for the counterrotating one to be made. But thousands of thanks anyway.
Best regards
Martin
