evinrude 70

Hi all.
I've got an old (2002 ish) evinrude 70,its ex RNLI and I've just renewed the boat insurance and they want the serial number of the engine and I can't find it !
I'm fairly confidant that its not nicked because I went to the guys house when I bought it and helped take it off his boat, and his identity and the fact that he is an RNLI crewman have been confirmed.
Any help would be appreciated (there is no obvious plate on the leg or transom bracket)

Could try contacting Poole if it still has the red number on the leg?

Hi bosun, i got an evinrude 70 ex rnli iv had the same problem i just took a number of the engine block and gave that to the insurance or put your own mark on it ,a copper told me to put your own mark on it, because if it got nicked they rub the serial numbers off anyway, iv got a mark on mine and only i know, so if it got nicked then found i can tell the police were the mark is hope that helps, hadd

No red number on the leg, Perhaps I'll make up my own,did that with the chassis number for a mk2 escort built from a new shell once (got the number from a 'works escorts' book) may have caused some problems later !!
