mercury hours

my opti only logged hours over 750 rpm so idle tickover was not recorded,
this meant that my boat engines showed 232hours after a year where we did considerably more, either that or my engine is wrong either way good news on servicing!

On my diesel, the engine hours counter is on the ignition - so if the ignition is on, the hours are counting up......even when not running!!

You just have to remember NOT to leave the ignition on for too long when playing with stuff...

Id spent 50% oif the 20 hours at tick over and another 25% just off tick over.

OK - so I didn't mind that much as I was running the engine in - but it made me think - and I switch her off if we are sat around doing nothing these days.

Just had my Opti fault code read, and engine use downloaded, figures were very similar, as I have just bought her, was quite happy to see the figures! only .4 hours over 5000 rpm, most of the 64 hours done at around the 1500 and 3000 rpm area,s, as was rear at my works, shame a printer was not available !!but as these numbers were not cleared out, will print off next time !!
