End of New 2 strokes?

Hi,

Can anybody tell me when the new 2 stroke import ban starts in the UK. Does it include fuel injection models as well as the regular carb models.
I am looking to buy a new larger 70hp Tohatsu motor, ( as new rib is ordered) but would like to wait untill early next year as the cash is tight, not sure if the ban is in place by then?

Thanx

No ban on 2-strokes

From http://www.outboards-direct.co.uk/aw...elst.asp?rip=5
(Am I ok to link?)
<snip>
Effectively, after 31st December 2006, any NEW spark ignition two stroke outboard motor which does not meet the EU 2006 standards, (basically conventional carburettor / E.F.I. 2-strokes) will cease to be imported / manufactured into the UK and the rest of the EU.
</snip>

So as long as the motor meets the regs (and I believe that most of the direct injected ones will) then you are still ok

Although none if this applies if your a commercial user!!. We can still get Mariners as they are made for 3rd world countries and we can still sell them, but not to leisure users.
