Thanks for everyones help and suggestions. All is well now, I jiggled the outboard up and down a bit a few times and it must of loosened up the motor, it turned very slow and after a few up/downs going better than any i have had before!! Once again thanks to everyone for help and onto the next question... Mike

Hmmm. That would imply some very old/hardened/non-lubricating grease in the tilt tube. Which in turn would imply the same thing is happening in the steering tube. Might be worth taking care of those while you're thinking about it.

thanks, going to take it out a couple of times and then do a thorough service on everything, Steering is new so thats ok Mike
