Don't think there's any news yet, I was at outboard services yesterday. Mark posted this on another thread.

"I popped into Outboard Services and explained my findings and observations and he told me not to run the engine again and let them examine it. Unfortunately I had to go back to work before I got it to them but it will be dropped in in mid nov for the verdict. Apparently play in the crank followed by oil dripping from the cowel are not cool in the world of Etec. Along similar lines the guy who does my mots has a 115 as well and has just had a new one just before his 3 year warranty expired after it self destructed."

Hi Gents,

No new news as yet, I'm currently stuck at work at the moment and won't be back in the uk for another 10 days or so. I popped into outboard services before I left and they didn't want to speculate too much as to what may have happened before they had examined the engine which is fair enough.
I will give them a call in the next couple of days and get it booked in ASAP when I am home

The chap who has had a new E-tec had his motor rebuilt under warranty. (I think it had a broken conrod). He picked up the engine and when he started it he said it sounded terrible. He spoke to the dealer again who said to run it and see if it improved and the first time out it failed again big time. As far as I know it was nearly 6 months between him having the 1st problems and getting a new motor which he had to pay 1500 towards as by that time the motor was out of warranty and BRP wanted 500 per year for the use he had had out of it.

Just to clarify this was not Outboard Services!!

Cornish Outboard Servicing

If you are using Outboard Services I hope you are a high earner! Have a reputation for being v.expensive. I am based in Fowey and we need someone good here, I now take mine down to Robin Curnow in Falmouth.

ha ha

I guess thats the problem ,that the e tecs arent burning any or enough fossil oil and blowing up, all they have to do is mix the right amount of oil with the fuel and away you go> Simples!!
