Does the E-Tec have a pitot?

Hi,
Well, my new Evinrude E-Tec is getting fitted to my new RIB later today :O) Does anyone know if the E-Tec has a pitot built-in for the speedometer? My speedo (came fitted to the rib) has a long plastic tube connected to it which I was told should connect to an outboard if it has a pitot.
Cheers,
Fraser

Hi Fraser my E-Tec 90 has a speedo connected to it by a plastic tube so I assume there must be a pitot there somewhere.

A stand-alone one is a little tube that sticks out the bottom of the hull and is connected by thin tubing (looks like the tube from a hospital drip) to a speedo. Basically water enteres tube and increases the air pressure in the tube as the spped of the boat increases. Some outboards have built in pitots so that you don't have to mess around fitting them to the underside of the transom.

Cheers,
Fraser

OK.

On my SmartCraft readout, next to the current speed it says 'pitot'. But I also have a little wotsit on the bottom of the transom. What gives?

Weird, maybe the Speedo has a pitot on the transom and the smartcraft readout is from the E-Tec's pitot?

One is probably a paddle wheel and the other a pitot from the leg.
