My cover's been rubbing against my cowling for at least 1 year 4 months, providing you wash all the salt away, the paint finish is really is much more hard wearing than you think.

Yours is-but mine's a Yamaha Origin motor and the paint finish on them isn't as hard or as shiny.I don't think they were even lacquered from new. The corners of the cowl are already showing a fair bit of wear after 2 years undercover.

Luckily I've finally managed to get the right paint to touch it up properly (the genuine Yam paint was discontinued last year) so next season it'll look like a new one again.
