Dings in props. How much is too much?

Ok, a mate has found this to potentially buy.

It has a few dings. Are they likely to impact performance much?

Cheers

One persons ding might be different from someone else's ding, so without seeing pictures of it I'm not sure we can comment Neil.

But repairing and balancing this size of prop is likely to cost anywhere up from £60.

If it was the odd stone dink I would have just fettled it out with a file. But I'd be tempted to get that one professionally repaired. Looks like the tips have had a good old scrape and I'd be worried about slight distortions of the blade profile. If one blade is worse than another it will be out of dynamic balance and could vibrate causing possible gearbox damage.

Used Steel Developments before on an aluminium propeller, came back good as new.
Propeller Repair Service

One thing to be aware before buying of is the type of ground you'll be boating over. Stainless steel props have very little give if the strike rock, which will transmit into the gearbox, etc.

£100 for the prop plus 60 to £100 to repair it. Not worth it in my opinion

I work for a Company Called Michigan Marine Propulsion and we could supply you a nice new prop for similar money.

Is this allowed mods? dont want to step over the line if not.
