Difference between.....

an extra long and long shaft outboard.

How much extra length is there on the extra long shaft?

The reason for this is that my daughter and boyfriend recently clouted a submerged object near Thorness Bay on the IoW and the Mercury 135 Offshore o/b is effectively a write off.

Need to replace it but have now realised that the engine is extra long shaft.

Advice please.

They were in 15m + of water doing between 25 and 30 knots, hull largely undamaged but engine has probably had it.

Thanks

I believe the differance is 4 inches.
25 inches compared to 21 inches.

The difference is 5"

If your 135 is beyond repair, you may be interested in this:

It's a real bargain and won't be around for long if that price is right.

I phoned these people up two days ago. The guy on the phone said the outboard was sold months ago, actually in Febuary.
