Diesel Engine Kill Cords.

I have a volvo penta TAMD22 in my Rib and had a VP kill cord fitted back in May. I am having some grief with the kill cord switch sticking which results in the engine not stopping when the cord is pulled out.

I have spoken with a guy from VP who admits the design is ''not perfect'', has anyone else experienced problems with this and does anyone know where I can get a replacement kill cord switch for a diesel engine which hasn't been designed an built by a new born baby??

Kill Switch

The parker (Mercruiser 120) has a standard (metal ) on-off switch which is on when up and has a cover. you hook the kill cord over the switch. It is simple and effective. Andre can probably give you more info.

That's a bit worrying. A killcord is a pretty fundamental bit of safety kit. When it gets pulled in "anger" something fairly major has gone wrong. To say that "It's not perfect" is crap! Maybe they should pull the thing from the market and make it "Perfect"!
