In the region of 2k over the KAD300 and 500 over the Yanmar. Do you think it's worth it?

Only you can make that decision. 200kg extra weight at the stern and 2K lighter out of your pocket. Oh yes, and good acceleration in the mid range.

Out of interest, are you able to give actual cost of each motor/drive combination. Approx will do.

Not exactly. All i know is that a KAD300 will cost the same as the Yamaha 240. The yanmar with bravo 2 will cost 1500 more, and the D6 will cost 500 more than that. I did once find the yanmar is question for 24,500, but i don't know how mcuh redbay are charging. Taking that figure however means i'd estimate:

Yamaha - 23,000
Kad300 - 23,000
Yanmar - 24,500
D6 - 25,000

Redbay, I suspect you are paying over the odds, unless the engine is tied into the deal. This time last year, I was quoted 15k for a Yanmar+Bravo3 at FYM in Grangemouth, and I paid less that 17k for my KAD and that included the DPX drive, which added a fair mount. These prices + vat., of course. The KAD I got from Glasgow so that should suit you. You'd need to transport it to N. Ireland, obviously.

well i'll check with redbay, as these prices are just estimates. Given the overall cost of the boat and the prices i have for these engines it is highly likely that redbay are charging me alot less for them.
