Thanks Captnjack and Simon, I'm getting a better grasp of this slowly. The prop is 19 x 21 with a max shaft speed around 1700rpm, the gearbox reduction being 2.52.

Over here thrust bearings are generally speced with a min/max shaft diameter and engine HP. Is 18kN the only value to see if it "fits"?

The particular model of drive I am looking at comes with an 18kN thrust bearing. The next size bearing up results in an overall increase in size of drive unit which will not fit in the space available.
