It's going back a while, but the old inline 6 merc 'tower of power' 150 2 stroke sounds amazing. Even better than a v6.

Cod,
Do you know who made that engine?
Is it a marinised road engine?
I know wankels can rev, but that sounds ridiculous, (a couple of run like that and you should be able to hear the bang in the next county).

my honda 90 made the best noise on the river.....ie none, but did not sound particularily nice on the sea when being wellied
i love the sound of the opti when you give em a fist full, lovely noise and a heck of a load of folks have commented on what a great noise it makes. i think 2strokes make an awsome noise when revved hard but maybe a verado makes a lovely noise for long periods!

The yam v4 or v6 sounds pretty sweet, but agree those big optimax take some beating.
Also had a 1993 rude that screamed like a formula 1 engine and it was only a 40hp.
Can't beat the noise and the smell of a 2 stroke

Has to be an Opti for me, especially when you cop some air off a good wave.

My Suzuki 2 stroke 225 doesn't sound bad either - nice and lumpy at idle but not quite load enough at full bore!!!
