Best Diesel engine for one of these boats?

I want 300-300hp diesel engine. Go for Yanmar 315, Volvo Penta 310 or Mercrusier? I want good speed close to 40 knots or something close to it. And cruising speed around 28-30 knots. Bravo 3?

Should I go for askeladden, Minor, Targa or Anytec? Help me... Or do you have any other ideas?

targa every time.

we looked at the yanmar option, however they are keen to fit volvos. Volvos evc/edc controls are the best by far.

The Targa is the only one of those that I have tried and I really rate it. From first appearances the others look like they may be in a similar league.

Like Jono says, Targa favour Volvos, in fact I think that might be the only option that they offer.

Yamaha With Hydradrives

Have you considered Yamaha With Hydradrives?

Redbay are big fans of the Yamaha diesels especially for boats that are going to have to work hard.

Best of luck.

Anytec no diskussions, dont think the people know Anytec very well in the UK but i would say its the most heavy duty you can get in Sweden, the other mentioned boats are not playing in the same league, the price of an Anytec is in another range than the rest, much more expensive.
That doesnt say that the other boats are bad because they are not, its great boats but Anytec should`nt be compared with these boats.
The other 3 are in the same class and i would choose Targa.

Only Targa in UK

Petrov - think you're right - UK members will only have experience of Targas here - we don't get the other boats.

Have surveyed a few Targas and they are generally in good condition.

The Met Police have a few as does the Southampton Harbour Master.

The larger Targas are/can be fitted with water jets as well.

I would recommend a Targa but have no experience of the others so can't comment.

I donīt want to freeze in late october or in early april. But a Nimbus, not!

My boat season is longer than the hot "days" in Sweden, its when itīs not ice on the sea... Targa or Anytec looks nice for me...

My starting question was what engine for this kind of boat do you recomend?

Do you have anything to say about Volvo Penta 310 hp? and yanmar 315 hp?

does it have to be a sterndrive?

there are better commercial sets ups then the ones you mention, and as someone pointed out the yamaha hydro drive is great as a sterndrive set up.

What are you using your boat for?

Between my houses! And trips IN the archipelago. I donīt want 2 engines, so the size of the boat canīt weight over 3500kg or? I want one strong engine and the speed. Cruising 28-30knots and top around 34-38 knots.

have you thought of a Hamilton HJ322 with a Caterpillar 3126? thats a good commercial set up plus its jets so you can go exploring more.

Anytec definatly looks a real purposeful machine but targo is a proven boat. i would try before i bought anything. Talk to owners as well as they can tell you how good the boat is to live with.

Go for the D6 350 hp Volvo diesel with Volvo sterndrive.

That's a great engine!
