Again I'm a little late with this reply........

.........but speaking from experience my Suzi 140 DF is a superb engine. My Med II ain't no feather weight yet the 140 tops me out at 40 plus knots - see attached.

In addition she's as quiet as a mouse - very fuel efficient and in my opinion one of the sexiest looking engines on the market at the moment.

That said, the grass is always greener on the other side and I would fancy a Varado.........

To be honest i wonder just how many of the engines on the market would reach their claimed HP if put on a dyno.

I remember reading the Yam 300hp was more like 270 in real life and I suspect it would be the same for most engines - the makers will give the best figures but so much depends on fuel/weather etc etc.

Did any one see the Top Gear test of the old super cars
when you looked at the makers BHP it look great, but Clarkeson had them tested independly and some of them where nearly half there BHP do they test them from the fly wheel or at the prop ?

Yes but be fair - they were all well knackered - all look like they had been thrashed!!!

Lets face it..........

..........who wants a 127 hp on their tail, a 270 instead of a 300 - come on - we would all if honest prefer the largest number possible so, mines a 140 and I'm sticking to it

I will go for the Suzuki also, i have speak the dealer today and he said to me that Suzuki stick to the 140 bhp on the prob. and not on the crank.

I have no axe to grind but the man at SAL Marine confirmed what you have said
Suzukis BHP is from the prop
Yamaha and Etec are from the crank

Yeah, mine's a Honda 300 really, but they missed the last '0' off the decal
