Avon 620 Engine choice

Hi I am new to all this and trying to get back in RIB's currently looking at Avon 620's 2000 -2003 and need a bit of advice on engines so far I have seen the following :

2000 Yam vmax 150

2001 115 mariner 2 stroke

2002 115 merc 4 stroke

Has anyone got any experience of the above or any opinions ?

I am looking for a boat I can leave on a mooring and use in the solent most weekends, I have tried out the Avon and enjoyed it but it had a 60 on it !!! So any advice welcome I have to buy by the end of march.

Julian, hi and welcome to Ribnet.

If you use the search facility "top right of screen" you will find we have lots of posts on these engines. The 115 Mariner 2 stoke would not be my first choice though.

Seen a few with Honda 130s but the weight! how about the Yam 115 4 stroke to add to your list.

I'm waiting for delivery of my new avon 620 from Bembridge outboards which will have a merc optimax 135 on was going to get the f115 but was only 200 more for optimax. they are only rated to a 150hp.
