Hi, Iím not exactly sure but I donít think the idea is all that new. Voith Schneider Propellers have been in use on larger boats for some time the only major change is the new system that i can see is its mounted on the transom. We regularly travel on a ferry which uses 2 Voith Schneider Propellers props one ahead and one astern, the ability to maneuver is impressive but at what cost surely the amount of drag and weight are increased in this system?
Iím by no means an expert but my little knowledge suggests not giving up on outboards just yet...

Yep, your'e absolutely right, it was on the Finning stand at the London boatshow as well. But it was attached to the VW Tdi225 in a big glass showcase, so I'd make a stab in the dark and say that it was a VW tie-in they've got. Nice engine by the way, very good power to weight.
