Yes, we've done Alderney on our RIB, but for St Malo I went with the Micklewrights on their old RIB which was an 8.5 self built aluminium hull - very smooth too!

I've also been across on friend's 6.5 Scorpion which was fun, but I had a horrible hangover so that was a bit of a blurr!!

You'll find the 8.1 superb for cross channel runs. Have you specced the built-in rear seat with the outboard well? It should make for a very safe boat. And whichever motor you choose (Vmax250 or 300) you should have plenty of power. I think that those motors are the same block so should weigh about the same.

That's more like it - thought it was a bit odd for you to turn down a boat ride! Richard says you have to come with us - who else would put up with us?!

So, do we start planning now? - or do you think that would scare off pmorgan?

Anyone else likely to be interested?

I'm slightly confused, why does that article say "Yamaha VZ300 — The World’s First 300HP Direct-Injected Outboard Motor". The 300 HPDI is direct injection.

Nice prop bad though - shame its not orange.

Petrified JW

Question of scale really...out there in the Ocean it's so much scarier...even oil tankers look vulnerable (and are at times...)

Yes, but only for an hour.

If your gonna start arguing with tankers, I'm not sure being in a Scorp will be much advantage.
