3 or 4 blades.

Happy new year to you all. Ok, at the end of last season I managed to scrape enough money to separately get a small RIB Aquapro 3.1 sports master and Honda 9.9hp 4 stoke. The engine has very very low hours and only fresh water use but it a bit battered cosmetically including the prop which is only good for the skip. When we tried out the boat 2 adults 2 kids plus kit it did finally get on the plane with all of us sitting on the front tubes!!! As I need a new prop what do I get. I believe the three blades will give me more speed but I not really worried about that and the 4 blades will get better pick up with not so much top end, is this right? At £80 a pop I cant afford to make the wrong choice. Any ideas, other than part ex the 9.9 for a 15! Thanks Jim.

Hi Jim,

I have just bought a 4 blade prop for my 60hp.

I'm hoping to try it this weekend to compare it to my 3 blade prop.

I will let you know.

4 blade stainless on my 60hp increased the pick up and I think made it slightly faster top end, definitely not slower!
