2003 Yamaha 200 4stroke - not pumping water

Had a new impellor last week, was running fine last weekend, started up on the muffs last night, not a drop, inspected impellor, that looks good as new. tried poking out the hole where the tale tail water comes out, but still nothing.

have tried both muffs/ the hose attachment that can be used for flushing when boat is in water.

Started it up this morning and it pumped for about 5 seconds, then back to nothing again.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Will

It could be that the Impeller is not connecting and turning with the drive shaft ,perhaps a small woodruff key or the like has corroded or been left out and is not engageing or that the new impeller slot is a bit larger letting the key slip .
also on some cheaper non standard parts the hub on the impeller may have seperated from the main body where it is moulded causing it to slip and not engage the drive shaft ,,
eg ,shaft turns but not the blades of the impelller,

Also check the water pump outlet is connected properly to the pipe inside the leg.
