2003 Mariner US or Metric?

Hi,
I'm replacing some socket screws from the tilt/trim motor on my 50ELTPO, and it looks to me as though the ones I'm taking off are not metric... Can anyone advise if that's what you'd expect, please?
Finding this a bit weird, TBH, I've been working on an assortment of cars, bikes and boats since I was kid in the 70s and I've never needed Imperial tools... surely a 21st century engine sold in Europe would be metric?

Nope if it's mercury mariner or evinrude or any other make manufactured in the US then it will be imperial fittings

Entirely expected. I'm a bit surprised if you've worked on things since the 70s that you've only met metric.
My bike (BSA A10) is predominantly Whitworth sizes & cycle thread - but it is from 1950
One of the most useful tools I ever bought was a thread pitch gauge, only a few £ & makes identification & ordering replacements easy.

Oh joy... I had four aircooled Citroens, three VW campers, then various German and Japanese things... bike (cycle) bits were mostly French, Japanese or occasionally Italian... US cycle parts appear to be metric, too... Lulled into a false sense of security, I guess!

Ah the joy of Standards... plenty of different ones to choose from :-(

Just the American mentality when the rest of the world come up with a good easy to use system of standards they stick to there own outdated more complicated system
Mostly unf & unc so prety easy to spot which one it is

Harley? They're mostly made of foreign spec'd parts, I think. Used to be "Made in the USA", now "designed and assembled in the USA". Except I think one of the new engine designs is German. Could be wrong on that, though.

Apologies- I meant bicycle parts, not motorcycle: Most US bicycle parts seem to have gone with the flow and moved to metric, presumably because the components industry is dominated by Japanese & European firms- Shimano, Campagnolo etc. There are plenty of legacy threads around (Most ISO threads are "British" for historical reasons, pedals are 9/16"x20tpi etc) but the vast majority of the cap screws, axles, nuts etc are metric...

I suppose, in my naivety, I assumed that Outboards would have followed a similar path, with the popularity of Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki etc... In restrospect, a foolish notion... :-)

I'm very reluctant to go and buy a whole stack of new tools, though... Especially since it seems unlikely I'll ever need them for anything else!!

Anyone want to swap something Japanese for an old Mariner 50? :-)
