Can't think of a reason why not but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

IMO any of the wires in the loom could develop a fault and get hot and melt the rest of them, in my case it was the feed to the injectors.

So you would only be eliminating one of many possible causes.

True, but think there is still more of a chance in the power cable (drawing greater current) in melting through all the cables and destroying the entire loom.
