2 Stroke Mix

Hi

Can anyone tell me whether a 40HP Mariner ML 2 stroke should be run at 1 : 100 or 1 : 50 2 stroke Mix. I have been told both - so just need to find out how it realy should be.

Thanks

I run my Mariner 40 at 1:50 - That's what my mechanic told me and it's been fine for months so i can't imagine where 1:100 came from?

Some ran at 100:1. 50:1 is safer anyway.

I think 100:1 is for the sake of the environment rather than your engine!!!

Get your 40 manual and have a look, better run 50:1 until you have the right information, will ruin your engine if used on 100:1 and turns out to be 50:1 engine. The other day read this sales ad that Yamaha 2 stroke engines 2008-2009 are running 100:1 Check tech specs at bottom:

If you speak to EP Barrus they will tell you.

I spoke to em about my Mariner 15hp Marathon.
On normal 2 stroke oil the mix is 50:1 but if you buy a certain grade of 2 stroke oil it can be reduced to 100:1.
Don't ask me what the grade of oil was but thats what I got told.

The other thing when buying oil is make sure it conforms to the correct standards, some oil might have well of come out of my chip pan.

I'm not sure of your Mariner ML but at one time the mariner range of smaller motors were rebadged Yamaha Origin engines. Mariner recommended 50:1 for these but Yamaha recommended 100:1. Both companies put a transfer of the oil ratio on the side of the engine tray on some of the models. I'd stick with 50:1 cos 100:1 isn't much oil.

Thats what mine is I think. It'll run 100:1 on whatever oil Yamaha spec.
