For some reason the NGK website does not play ball when you cut and paste a link but this is the result

2002-1997 MARINER 150 Opti Max 150 hp

Spark Plug Part No. PZFR5F-11 # Platinum

This has been superseded to IZFR5G the Platinum plugs have not been lasting as long, so they now use Iridium plugs.

Spark plugs

Hi Mick
I buy from here

http://speedncustommarine.com/search...?keywords=5887

- and usually buy 12 ( as they come in boxes of 4 and it is he same delivery cost) so its two full services. Ask him for delivery cost by USPS ( not UPS) and its quite reasonable. My last dozen incl delivery worked out at £6.89 each !!

Have you changed them before - if not ; you have to be VERY careful not to cross thread and wreck your head. A piece of fuel hose over the end of the plug helps to get the thread started properly. Screw in by hand as much as you can to be sure before using a ratchet.
Jeff
If the direct page link doesnt work use this
Speed & Custom Marine
and search for 5887

......... SORRY Turbo - can't generally fault you for good prices and great service but these plugs are a giraffe over here

Service intervals, Mercury say just check them on a service, but we usually change them at about 3 years or 300hrs.

Thanks very much to all for your responses.

I had placed the order for the platinum plugs before the suggestion for the iridium ones was posted.

Shouldn't be an issue....no??

RIBase
Well somebody on here on a previous thread advised that you should always get the plugs with the Z in the number as this will ensure correct suppression. Well I have just paid £47.53 incl postage for 6 NGK BUZ8H

Should be fine, they were fitted with those from the factory back in the day, they have just superseded them to the newer plugs as they last longer. Plus the price of Platinum went up loads and it was cheaper to get Iridium so im told!
