you could always PM someone if you want to offer your expertise without appearing to advertise to the whole of the site

You posted a couple of "check out my website" messages with links to a site that looks very much like a business, so I sent you a polite PM reminding you about the rules. Hardly a slap - I didn't even delete any of your posts!

Ultimately it's your choice whether or not you want to pay a very modest amount to promote your business here. The way things are set up seems to work pretty well for most people, but it's never going to suit everyone all the time.

true enough john, still have the websites and guys who rely on me to find them work, i'll leave it the way it is, if i offer stuff to people i'll be working flat out again, not what i've worked 40yrs for, thanks for pushing me off the fence

It is a very hard one for you JK.
I know we have debated it before!

Although I clearly work in the trade, I try not to and have never hid that fact.
With that in mind I do try, were I canand unless asked a direct question, give a level un-bias answer on subjects that relate to my work. Not always easy.

I also don't think that my boat business does or ever will benifit from being mentioned on Ribnet. To date we have had no business as a direct result of being mentioned on here. I am happy for that to change!!! :0

Not trying to wriggle out of it just trying to make a point of view.

This one, I feel, will role on and on and on and on..........
